I was so excited for this because

a) The cover is so cute it resembles Dakota Johnson so much
b) I like ‘Daisy’
c) Reese Witherspoon is about to make a miniseries of this one
d) I love Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo I’m curious about her new release.

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now. Well, it’s a story documenting the rise and fall of a fictional band during the 70’s. Readers will find all of the sex, drugs, and rock & roll that you’d expect from a rock band in 70s.

So this book was written in the style of interview ; which I find refreshing! It was told by multiple perspectives of the individuals who was involved with the band at some point or another. I have mixed feeling on this one so I’m going to list out what I love and what I don’t on this.

What I loved
  • That Reid is so good I even googled if the band was real because oh my god, there is lyrics(?????!!!)
  • The star of the show: Miss Daisy Jones. Reid have made her so relatable, so easy to love. Sure, she made few things that I wished she didn’t do but that’s life. A character should have their flaws to be real.
  • The perspectives. Each of them has different things to remember from one event.
  • The feminism side. Even in the 70s. Reid made her characters have several backbones to stand by their choice and decision. On what they should wear, on career path, choice of boyfriend and having babies. Kudos, girl power
  • Female friendship is good on this one. No unnecessary girl-drama.
  • “I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else’s muse. I am not the muse. I am somebody. End of fucking story"
  • Camilla Dunne. You are a hell of woman. She knows what she wants, she goes for it, she got it.
  • Extra; there are actual lyrics of the songs mentioned in this book which makes the album/songs real AF.

What I did not love
  • I think the whole story went a little bit flat for me –I got bored at some point. I want it to be more dramatic.
  • The addiction. Society knows it’s a norm during 70s but it bothers me when it played major part in the book and I said in my first point, I got bored with the constant.

Overall it was an OK book. It’s not bad at all but sadly, not for me 🙍
